On the Acts of the Apostles |
|---|
What is the pattern of missions presented here?
- The typical number of people going on a specific missions journey is two. This fits with Luke 10:1. You do occassionally see people in groups of three or four or by themselves, but the normal is two.
- They stay in that city untill the gospel is preached to the whole city and they have made either disciples or enemies.
- Later on, they usually revisit the believers in the cities they've preached in. They strengthen, encourage, and exhort them.
- They report back to the church that sent them, to the other churches along the way, and to the Apostles and Elders.
Communication is a huge part of this pattern. First they listen to the instruction of the Holy Spirit, they obey, communicate the gospel, communicate further teaching later, and then they communicate results to their supporters/authority.
